So here are Caroline and Siobhan on our 40 mile training ride last Sunday. Lovely, but exhausting day! Next weekend we will be embarking on 2 days worth of almost twice that distance, which is daunting! 140 miles altogether from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. I think we pass through Matfen and Stamfordham on the Sunday afternoon..
Here is why Caroline suggested the ride:
“As many of you might know, my daughter has been missing a few milestones in her development, and I have struggled to find support for her. However, Stampers has been very supportive of all our family and I want to give something back. I’m going to ride the coast to coast.”
Siobhan, liking a bit of biking, offered to join her, not realising she was planning on doing it in 2 days, rather than 3 or 4!

We decided we wanted to raise funds for IT equipment as ours is very old, and there are now some fantastic apps, particularly by Apple, that we would like to take advantage of. After discussion with a group that was got together as an ‘action research group’ for a PhD student researching IT in early years Siobhan thought perhaps the best option would be to get 2 second hand iPads (with robust protection!), an Apple TV box and a wall mounted flat screen. This will enable children to use apps – and Tapestry too – and to then share what they have done with others through the large screen. Thinking back and reflecting, and sharing these thoughts with others are very important skills to develop.
We would really value your support with our fundraising. Stampers is a small charity. Your fees and the funding we get from the nursery education grants, barely cover our low wages, so we rely heavily on fundraising for all of our resources.
